About Manningtree Town Council

People who live in Manningtree tend to agree that it's a wonderful place, with a lot of life and character and a strong sense of community.

Manningtree Town Council exists to serve this exceptional little town - both those who live here and those who work here.

We own various items of street furniture, including the benches and some of the street lights, and are responsible for the war memorial. We pay a handyman to pick up litter. Although we do not decide planning applications, we are consulted and almost always express a view.

We also aim to be as helpful as possible. In recent years, we have arranged for new street nameplates where their lack was causing confusion. We have helped to resolve major difficulties with delivery lorries. We also provide grants to worthwhile local groups, which have included the Citizens' Advice Bureau, a children's dance project and the community bus.

If you see a broken street light or notice a pothole and don't know who to contact, please let the Clerk know: she will ensure that the relevant authority is informed.

The councillors provide their time for free, but everything else is paid for by the parish element of your Council Tax. This means that your views matter, so make the most of it!
