Robins at Marsh Barn

Listed under

Situated on the banks of the river Stour, Robins is a detached converted barn in large, well-tended garden.

The accommodation is in a converted 200 year old barn in the conservation area of Dedham Vale, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The pretty, comfortably furnished studio (20'x15') sleeps 2 (3 by arrangement). There is a well-equipped kitchen & bathroom, each 7'x10'.

The large 1 acre beautiful garden has a croquet lawn, 200yds river frontage, outside dining area & parking at front door. The garden gate opens onto a riverside path to Flatford Mill (3 miles) & Dedham (4 miles) in one direction and in the other to the little town of Manningtree (10 minutes), with its beach, sailing club & several excellent restaurants.

This is a bird watchers paradise with an RSPB reserve across the river. Visiting species have included spoonbill, pelican, osprey & American dowitcher. There are resident egrets.

Colchester (20 minutes by car) is Britain's oldest recorded town with Roman Walls, a Norman Castle & fine zoo. The Beth Chatto gardens are close by. Not far away is Sutton Hoo. There are many enchanting towns such as Lavenham & Kersey. A 25 minute drive will take you to Frinton on Sea, Walton or Clacton. There are excellent theatres in both Colchester & Ipswich (15 minutes by car).
